I am a therapist and a lawyer. Working in the professional world and studying to get there are both stressful. I know this from personal experience. In addition to being a therapist, I was a federal prosecutor for 23 years. I am currently a Licensed Independent Social Worker.
During my career I have seen the toll that stress and depression can take. My clients come from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and include LGBT+, transgender and non-binary individuals and couples.
There is so much stigma attached to seeking help for stress, anxiety and depression. One of my personal ambitions is to reduce the stigma that attorneys experience when seeking treatment for mental health issues. In that context, I chaired the Wellness Committee of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA). I’ve taught several Continuing Legal Education courses on mental health and wellness at the CMBA and spoken on the topic at Case Western Reserve University Law School. Additionally, I teach antitrust law at Case, which continues to give me insight into the experiences of law students and future lawyers.
Over the years I also spent time working in the community as a tutor in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. I’ve worked as a therapist with children of all ages, with a focus on adolescents and young adults. I believe I have developed a talent for understanding and motivating young adults to achieve and see a world beyond what their circumstances might otherwise dictate.
My Aim.
My aim is to help you use the strengths you have been overlooking to achieve your goals in therapy.
Together we will examine both the long-term factors that make you who are, and the shorter-term barriers to achieving your goals.
